Welcome to the blog for Roseau High School English 7! I will use this site to communicate announcements, review lessons, and share any information that is seemingly of interest to 7th Grade students and their families. Before using this site, please read about appropriate and safe internet use here. Please also keep all comments kind and productive, as this is an extension of the classroom. It is my sincere hope that you enjoy the blog. Thank you! Mrs. L πŸ™‚

Youth Frontiers: Courage Retreat

The Courage Retreat was a great time, wasn’t it?

We had some great laughs. Here is the video of Kyle!

You also got to show of your dancing and singing skills:

The most important thing, however, was what we learned about courage. Please take the time to tell our “audience” (blog readers) what you learned. How will this change our school?

What was your favorite part?

Many of you participated in the Pebble in the Pond activity at the end. Feel free to share about your courage statement as well.

Thank you to Youth Frontiers for another great year!!!

Middle Schoolers and Technology

Hello Students!

Welcome to the blog! I’m going to use the articles we’ve been using in class to generate our first discussion online.

We have read this New York TimesΒ article about cell phone usage:

When to Buy Your Child a Cell Phone

Here is another one in regards to technology:

Study Shows Kids Tethered to Technology

I’d like to hear what you think!

After reading the artciles, use the following questions to respond.

1) What role does technology play in your life? Does it take up a lot of your time?

2) What age is appropriate to be allowed to have a cell phone?

3) Are things like Facebook, cell phones, iPods distracting? Do they take kids away from more important things?

4) How would you like to see technology used in the school setting?

Keeping our guidelines in mind, have fun responding!

In the comment section, please feel free to post any of your questions from the 10 Question Review. Perhaps some students will answer you!

Also, take time to write about the setting of the story, the plot, characters, and conflicts. Be sure you read the comments of others before you leave class or over the weekend to review!

Use your study guides, the books, and the blog to study for the test!

See you Monday! Mrs. L πŸ™‚
